A hernia may develop because of increased pressure in the body that causes an organ to push through an opening or weakness of muscle. Some factors that can lead to a hernia include age, chronic coughing, damage from injury or surgery.
The most common are
  • Infections
  • Recurrence
  • Injury to nerves arteries and veins.
  • Intestinal injuries
  • Dense scarring or adhesions after any operations in the groin and the abdomen
  • Injury to the intestines which can cause leaks, fistulas, abscesses and rarely death.
  • If the shrinkage is too severe, the hernia defect may be exposed and the hernia may reoccur.
It may appear as a lump or bulge in the groin, upper part of the stomach, belly button or area with surgical scars.
Hernia is a tear in the muscle that separates the abdomen from the groin. An abdominal organ pushes through the cavity and is felt as a bulge in the groin. The repair is to close the hole.
A sports hernia, is also called an “athletic pubalgia,” develops when muscles or tendons in your lower abdomen or groin is injured. This a painful tear that’s often triggered by activities.
The hernia will continue to grow and may cause pain and intestinal obstruction.
