The subtotal hysterectomy, seems to enhance the results of laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy.
At World Laparoscopy Hospital, we have done one study of 75 cases of sacrocolpopexy in last three year and in our study conclusion was laparoscopic double synthetic mesh sacrocolpopexy seems to be a safe and effective treatment of genitourinary prolapse, with good overall long term outcomes and benefits of the minimal access approach. The presence of the remaining cervix after subtotal hysterectomy, seems to enhance the results of laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy. The remaining cervix make this surgery easy to perform. At World Laparoscopy Hospital we have seen very good result by this approach and further randomised studies are needed to confirm our results and to compare this method to open or vaginal approach. Good satisfaction was defined as complete disappearance of all genito-urinary symptoms. Moderate satisfaction was defined as a partial disappearance of symptoms, or de novo less annoying symptoms.
In our study the most frequent laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy post operative symptoms were stress incontinence, dysuria and constipation. No severe complications and mesh erosion were observed, despite the one case of mesh detachment. To avoid mesh detachment we have started applying extracorporeal square knot instead of tacker or intracorporeal suture.

Laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy is very safe and effective surgery in experienced hand, but as with any minimal access surgical procedure there are risks attached. Rarely few patient have such dense scarring because of their previous surgery that preclude us from performing the procedure safely with laparoscopic surgery. The risks common to all operations include anaesthetic risks, infection, bleeding, recurrence of symptoms and formation of a blood clot in the lungs.
The laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy is a minimally invasive technique for vaginal vault prolapse repair, combining the advantages of open sacrocolpopexy with the decreased morbidity of laparoscopy. We found a decreased hospital stay, low complication rates and high patient satisfaction with a minimum of 3 year followup.
