Dear WLH Administrator, I am a busy consultant in Rohtak. I can not spare the 4 week time in one stretch. I am already doing basic laparoscopic surgery like laparoscopic cholecystectomy laparoscopic appendicectomy etc.. My question is that can I do later 2 week Diploma before doing first two week course of fellowship in minimal access surgery. I am little confused because of time concern but I am eager to join World Laparoscopy Hospital. I am also very much interested in da Vinci robotic surgery which is included in the later two week of the course as I believe. Waiting for reply Dr Sushil Srivastava |

Dear Dr Srivastava We don't take admission directly in D.MAS if you have not done initial two week F.MAS training from World Laparoscopy Hospital. It is not wise also that you start learning advanced laparoscopic or robotic surgery without learning fundamentals of minimal access surgery. We appreciate that you are already doing the basic laparoscopic surgery but we have a curriculum in which you will learn a lot of new things in F.MAS course. We start the course from scratch and we have the curriculum starting from Veress needle to da Vinci robot. We are very systematic and particular about the flow of our course content and if you will not attend our basic course and directly drop after two week it will not give you much benefit as you may not understand what we want to convey you. Laparoscopic surgery is a skill not a specialization and all of its technique is linked to each other. If you will miss any of the link you will miss many things. This is the reason we do not conduct fractured courses of one two days like other institute. We also not use hired faculty which keep on changing every time. In other institute they have list of hundreds of faculty which change in every course but wee believe in "Value of Gurukul Education" and training where faculty should must be with the student from beginning to the end. They should not drop and go after just delivering one lecure. Our courses are fully interactive and taught through lectures, practical sessions and interactive case discussions with emphasis on relevant real evidence based clinical examples and live demonstration inside the operation theatre to make the information easy to understand and effective. A unique blend of the ancient Indian Gurukul tradition with the modern methodology of instruction amongst the state of the art modern infrastructure is the essence of laparoscopic and robotic surgery training at World Laparoscopy Hospital. |

I recommend you to finish the course in one stretch. If you will split it in two part you will loose the interest and next time your new friend surgeon may not allow you with same team spirit as if you are outsider. It is better to spare complete one month time to learn laparoscopy. This time is worth spending as they teach you very fundamental tricks of Minimal Access Surgery which you can learn no where. |

Is there any time frame to join Diploma after finishing Fellowship or I can join anytime later. I am planning after one year after performing level 1 laparoscopic surgery to join later 4 week course. |

There is no time frame to join D.MAS. After finishing the first two week Fellowship in Minimal Access surgery course any time later you can join the later two week training from 15th of the month. Please send us the email and book your seat in advance. |

First, you should take fellowship training because the goal of first two weeks is to provide surgical residents, fellows and practicing physicians an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of laparoscopic surgery in a consistent, scientifically accepted format; and to test cognitive, surgical decision-making, and technical skills, all with the goal of improving the quality of patient care. |
