Diagnostic Laparoscopy Lecture By Dr R K Mishra
This video demonstrate Laparoscopy, also known as diagnostic laparoscopy, is a surgical diagnostic procedure used to examine the organs inside the abdomen. It's a low-risk, minimally invasive procedure that requires only small incisions. Laparoscopy uses an instrument called a laparoscope to look at the abdominal organs.
Diagnostic laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that is performed to examine the organs and tissues within the abdomen and pelvis. Here is an overview of the procedure:
Anesthesia: The patient will be placed under general anesthesia.
Port placement: Several small incisions will be made in the abdomen to allow access for the laparoscope and other instruments. Typically, two to three ports will be placed.
Visualization of the abdomen and pelvis: The laparoscope will be inserted through one of the incisions to allow the surgeon to view the organs and tissues in the abdomen and pelvis. The surgeon may manipulate the organs and tissues to get a better view and may take tissue samples (biopsies) for laboratory analysis.
Closure of incisions: The incisions will be closed with sutures or surgical glue.
Recovery: The patient will be monitored in the recovery room until they wake up from anesthesia, and then will be transferred to a regular hospital room. They may experience mild pain or discomfort, which can be managed with medication.
Diagnostic laparoscopy can be used to diagnose a variety of conditions, such as pelvic pain, infertility, or abnormal bleeding. It is generally associated with less pain, smaller incisions, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recovery times compared to traditional open surgery. However, as with any surgical procedure, there are potential risks and complications, such as bleeding, infection, and injury to surrounding organs. It is important to discuss the risks and benefits of diagnostic laparoscopy with your healthcare provider to determine if it is the best option for your individual situation.
