Da Vinci Robotic Suturing Training
This video demonstrate Minimally invasive intracorporeal suturing is a stressful task. Compounding the stress of this technical challenge are the significant cognitive challenges for the laparoscopic surgeon who must overcome the physical separation of the visual and physical aspects of the operation. The surgeons must blend or bring together the view on the display and the mechanical feedback from the arms and hands in order to dexterously manipulate the tissues.
Training on robotic suturing using the Da Vinci surgical system is typically provided to surgeons during their residency and fellowship programs. However, there are also specialized training courses and workshops available for surgeons who wish to improve their skills in robotic surgery, including suturing techniques.
The training typically involves a combination of didactic lectures, hands-on training with robotic simulators, and supervised practice in the operating room. The didactic lectures cover the principles and techniques of robotic surgery, including suturing and knot tying, while the hands-on training allows surgeons to practice their skills using robotic simulators.
In the operating room, surgeons may be supervised by experienced robotic surgeons as they perform procedures that involve suturing, such as hernia repairs, hysterectomies, and prostatectomies. The goal of this training is to improve the surgeon's ability to perform precise and accurate suturing using the robotic system.
In addition to training, surgeons may also have access to virtual reality simulators and other technology to practice their skills outside of the operating room.
It is important for surgeons to continually update their skills and knowledge through training and continuing education courses to ensure safe and effective use of robotic surgery in patient care.

This video effectively highlights the demanding nature of minimally invasive intracorporeal suturing, underscoring the cognitive challenges faced by laparoscopic surgeons. The need to synchronize visual and physical elements during robotic suturing is emphasized. It sheds light on the importance of specialized training programs, such as those for the Da Vinci surgical system, to enhance surgeons' proficiency in suturing techniques.
