My hospital has recently purchaged the da Vinci XI robot. Every department is now interested to use it. My question as a gynecologist is Is there any real benefit of doing da Vinci Hysterectomy? I am comfortable using laparoscopic total hysterectomy. So should I switch to Robotic surgery and what real advantage my patient will get if I will start doing robotic hysterectomy. |

Dear Dr Harper We are doing da Vinci Robotic Hysterectomy since 2010. World Laparoscopy Hospital is second hospital after AIIMS to have da Vinci Robot. Now in India to date there are 25 da Vinci Robot. Robotic hysterectomy provides surgeons with a superior tool that allows for the precise dissection and better suturing, when compared to traditional open or minimally invasive approaches. The robotic system also allows your surgeon better visualization of the 3D anatomy, which is especially critical when working around delicate and confined structures like the ureter and bladder, blood vessels and other internal organs can better visualized and better bleeding control due to articulating instruments. This allows robotically trained surgeons to perform hysterectomy surgeries more precisely and help overcome challenges associated even if with adhesions from previous operations. |
