Dear Sir, I was interested in learning robotic technology. I am very much interested in da Vinci Robot but I heard about TransEnterix, surgical Robot also. My question is What is the main difference between SurgiBot System and ALF-X Robot? |

Dear Dr Rivera The SurgiBot System of TransEnterix robotic company is designed to be a minimally invasive surgical platform that allows multiple instruments to be introduced and deployed through a single incision. It is basically patient side single incision robot where surgeon will be operating standing on the side of patient. The flexible instruments is controlled directly by the surgeon from inside the sterile field, with robotic assistance. ALF-X of TransEnterix is a surgical robot in which all the arms are separate. It provides robotic benefits with less cost than da Vinci but the clinical studies are not there and they are just newly launched robot. In my opinion right now only FDA approved robot which you should think to buy is da Vinci robot. TransEnterix plans to file for FDA clearance on ALF-X in the fourth quarter, and if cleared, bring the surgical robot to market in the U.S. in 2017. |
