Dear sir, Would like to know. What should be the minimum platelet count for safe lap surgery in simple procedures like cholecystectomy, appendectomy. |

Dear Dr Singh Proposed guidelines for platelet transfusion for surgical adult or pediatric patient is if it is less than 50 x 109/L. Laparoscopic surgery or any invasive procedures such as lumbar puncture, epidural anaesthesia, liver biopsy, endoscopy with biopsy, placement of a central venous catheter we should not do without platelet transfusion if the platelet count is below 50x109/L. If we do INR test preoperative will it reflect the problem of thrombocytopenia due to Dengue or Chikungunya. |

Is it possible to transfuse whole blood if we will not get platlet. |
