Dear Dr Hussain, For last 20 years gynecologists are doing single port sterilization in India in sterilization camps. Single Port sterilization is very much possible with the help of an instrument which is called laprocator. This is basically a telescope with working channel to introduce fallope ring applicator. A laprocator is robust, reliable, and relatively inexpensive instrument to do single puncture sterilization, and is popular with patients and gynecologist in India. It has a bulb, not a fibreoptic light source; and you can use it with local anaesthesia, but you will find it more convenient with general anaesthesia. You will need a cylinder of carbon dioxide, but if you can get room air, you should be able to get this too for just a 10 minute quick sterilization procedure. |
