Hello, I have had an in-ano-fistula for about 10yrs now. I always thought I could heal it up myself, now I realize I need some help. I live in Canada and for some strange reason we do not have VAAFT here. I am presently looking into the LIFT technique however this VAAFT looks far less invasive. Just the distance to India is the only hurdle. I am wondering what the cost is for this proceedure? How are accomodations provided or is it up to me to set that up? What is the wait time to get this proceedure done? As in how far ahead would one need to book? Have you had success in permanently keeping fistula's closed with this method? Hope to hear from you. Sincerely, Geoff Jones |

Dear Geoff Jones Cost of VAAFT at World Laparoscopy Hospital would be 55,000 rupees. You can stay in the hostel of World Laparoscopy Hospital after surgery. The VAAFT technique is performed for the surgical treatment of complex anal fistulas and their recurrences. The main Key points are the correct localization of the internal fistula opening under vision, the fistula treatment from inside, and the hermetic closure of the internal opening. This video technique comprises two phases: a diagnostic one and an operative one. There is no need to know the fistula classification which obviously saves time and money. Moreover, surgical wounds in the perianal region are prevented and the risk of faecal incontinence is avoided because no sphincter damages are provoked. There is no much waiting time you can inform us a week before you come. With regards Sadhana |

Hello, My earlier anal abscess drain in MAY-2014 has reoccured as Fistula. There is BLOOD (WITH SOME MIXED pus) discharge On and Off twice a week. I had taken MRI, reports says: Linear enhancing tracks seen in the left perineum and reaching upto 6 O clock position in the inter sphinteric region with mild enhacement adjacent to it and adjoining track. (GRADE 1 INTERSPHINCTERIC FISTULA). Please suggest whether VAAFT surgery will be better or other way, I am unable to make decision. Dear Mr Kumar VAAFT is good for complex fistulas. Video-assisted anal fistula treatment (VAAFT) is a novel minimally invasive and sphincter-saving technique for treating complex fistulas. Key steps are visualization of the fistula tract using the fistuloscope, correct localization of the internal fistula opening under direct vision, endoscopic treatment of the fistula and closure of the internal opening using a stapler or cutaneous-mucosal flap. Diagnostic fistuloscopy under irrigation is followed by an operative phase of fulguration of the fistula tract, closure of the internal opening and suture reinforcement with fibrin glue. |

Hi, I am also wondering what the cost is for this procedure? Do you offer accommodations or would I need set that up? How much for the accommodations? What is the wait time to get this procedure done? As in how far ahead would one need to book? Have you had success in permanently keeping fistula's closed with this method? How long is the recovery time? Thank you so much! Dear Sir, We can perform VAAFT surgery for you. You have to stay only one day and next day you will be discharged. The total package of surgery would be 1,20,000 Indian Rupees. With regard Dr Rahul |

Dear Sir, I am suffering from anal fistula from last 6 months.Earlier there was only one external opening ,but from last week another painful opening brusted with discharge of pus & blood.. l consulted AIIMS Patna Drs.They suggest fistulogram & colonyscopy. After seeing report they suggested fistulactomy+Seton/VAFT. I want to know which will be more reliable treatment.I am also a heart patient and my angioplasty is done in sep 2008 in PD Hinduja Hospital,Mumbai. Thanking You Aloke Dear Aloke Fistulectomy +seton/VAAFT will be better surgery for you. Fistulectomy is the surgical procedure where the fistula tract is excised completely and VAAFT is video assisted anal fistula treatment. So complete excision of the fistula will reduce the chance of recurrence. |
