Once the anterior and posterior colpotomies are opened, the uterine vessels are skeletonized, sealed, and divided with a sealing device or vessel clips. The remainder of the colpotomy is completed using monopolar or bipolar cautery. After specimen removal, attention is turned to the closure of the vaginal cuff. Several methods and materials are available for intra-abdominal cuff closure.
