Laparoscopic and Robotic Cholecystectomy

Tilted Brush Stroke

Symptom

1. Fever or chills. 2. Redness, swelling, bleeding, or other drainage from the incision site. 3. More pain around the incision site. 4. Yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes (jaundice) 5. Belly or abdominal pain, cramping, or swelling. 6. No bowel movement or gas for 3 days. 7. Pain behind your breastbone.

Precautions Before Surgery

To prepare for a cholecystectomy, your surgeon may ask you to: Eat nothing the night before your surgery. You may drink a sip of water with your medications, but avoid eating and drinking at least four hours before your surgery. Stop taking certain medications and supplements

Avoid high-fat foods, fried and greasy foods, and fatty sauces and gravies for at least a week after surgery. Instead, choose fat-free or low-fat foods. Low-fat foods are those with no more than 3 grams of fat a serving. Check labels and follow the serving size listed.

Precautions Before Surgery

Anesthesia

General Anesthesia is required in this surgery. The primary goal of general anesthesia is rendering a patient unconscious and allow surgeon to perform painless surgery. Patient does not get any pain after this anesthesia.

Recovery from Anesthesia

After Laparoscopic or Robotic Surgery, the anesthetist will stop the anesthetic gas and you'll gradually wake up painlessly in the operation theatre itself. You will not feel any pain. You'll usually be in a recovery room at first for a couple of hours, before being transferred to a ward. Entire proccess is smooth and painless

Surgeons using da Vinci technology can remove your gallbladder through either a few small incisions (cuts) or through one small incision in your belly button using Single-Site technology. During surgery, your surgeon sits at a console next to you and operates using tiny instruments
