Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery
Dear Member!

We bid you a warm welcome to our May 2011 developments are underway. Watch this space!

This month, we are pleased to release an online masterclass specially designed to strengthen the surgical skills of laparoscopic surgeons desiring to do so. Leading experts in this field present their latest work in the shape of live procedures, lectures, pearls and the analysis of a standard procedure.

For our monthly update, we are releasing 2 brand-new HD videos that you will be able to download for free. We are also publishing 3 new videos showing different surgical procedures, along with 3 lectures in pediatric minimal access surgery and one over Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery!

Single-port laparoscopy (SPL), also known as single-port access surgery (SPA), single-port incisionless conventional equipment-utilizing surgery (SPICES), single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS), Single-access endoscopic surgery (SAES), laparo-endoscopic single-site surgery (LESS), natural-orifice transumbilical surgery (NOTUS), and one-port umbilical surgery (OPUS), is a recently developed technique in laparoscopic surgery. It is a minimally invasive surgical procedure in which the surgeon operates almost exclusively through a single entry point, typically the patient’s navel. Unlike a traditional multi-port laparoscopic approach, SPL leaves only a single small scar.

In SILS, we have new media recorded live at the World Laparoscopy Hospital (Gurgaon) for our WLH members. The media was shot during the last advanced course in SILS (March 17-18, 2009) and is available on the www.laparoscopyhospital.com.
For more information on SILS, please click on the Video section of the Newsletter.  Yours faithfully,

Dr R K Mishra
