CMR Surgical, the company that produces and sells the CMR Surgical Robot, was founded in 2014 and is based in Cambridge, UK. The company was co-founded by Martin Frost and Luke Hares, who are both experienced entrepreneurs in the medical technology field.

Since its founding, CMR Surgical has raised significant funding to support the development and commercialization of the CMR Surgical Robot. In 2019, the company raised $240 million in a funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund, which valued the company at $1.2 billion.

As of my knowledge cutoff in 2021, CMR Surgical was a privately held company, which means that its ownership is not publicly disclosed. However, the company has a number of investors, including venture capital firms, private equity firms, and strategic investors in the medical technology industry.

The CMR Surgical Robot is a medical device used in surgical procedures. It is a robotic system designed to assist surgeons in performing minimally invasive procedures, such as laparoscopic surgeries. The system consists of a console, a set of robotic arms, and a 3D high-definition vision system.

The console is where the surgeon sits and controls the robotic arms using hand controllers and foot pedals. The robotic arms, which are equipped with surgical instruments, are inserted into the patient's body through small incisions. The 3D high-definition vision system provides the surgeon with a clear and detailed view of the surgical site.

The CMR Surgical Robot is designed to be compact, lightweight, and portable, making it easy to move between operating rooms. It is also designed to be user-friendly, with intuitive controls and a simple interface that allows surgeons to quickly learn how to use the system.

The use of robotic systems like the CMR Surgical Robot has several benefits for patients, including smaller incisions, less pain and scarring, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery times. Additionally, the use of robotic systems allows surgeons to perform more precise and accurate procedures, reducing the risk of complications and improving patient outcomes.
