I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for one year and a half. As we started having sex three or four months in to the relationship I began getting stomach pains. I used to get these pains after i was angry, emotional or when I was very horny. They used to be quite frequent whenever we first began to possess sex however they stopped and I thought nothing of these for some time . But recently I have been providing them with again very regularly which is causing tension between me and my girlfriend. After considering it I noticed that they became more frequent after we began making love with no condom and seeking new sexual things. The stomach pains come mostly after i am with my girlfriend, usually during sex when we plan to sleep, after i am angry they are very intense, or when I am horny. Although sometimes they're random which is frustrating. It feels as though my stomach is being squeezed and it is very uncomfortable and makes me feel queasy. I find it difficult to sleep when I ask them to and I am a rugby player and so i am not a wuss with regards to pain. The only method so far I have discovered to alleviate these pains is sexually and ejaculating. Are you aware why this is? Do you know what is causing the pains? Or have any advice on what else I'm able to do to relieve them instead? |

Dear Denim All ladies feel discomfort or pain in the lower abdomen below the navel from time to time, for instance, before or during menstruation. Before ovulation, your ovaries may be slightly tender, and having sex may jostle them, causing a sharp pain. Deep thrusting may also cause pain if you suffer from mittel-schmerz (a condition characterized by mild cramps around ovulation). Try moving your legs closer together during sex to keep him from going in too far. If pain strikes at other times of the month, see your gynecologists. It could signal endometriosis or another serious condition. Taking note of certain symptoms will help you and your doctor accurately diagnose the problem, even though this can be challenging. In many cases it can be difficult to recognize the cause of the pain in women and it may not be related to sex, but noting certain features will help you and your doctor arrived at a likely diagnosis. The most typical causes are a urinary disorder like a bladder or kidney problem, a bowel problem or a condition involving the the reproductive system - the uterus, Fallopian tubes and ovaries. Kind of pain arising from the urinary system Pain in the urinary system can indicate such conditions as cystitis (inflammation of the bladder), inflammation of the collecting system of one or both kidneys (pyelonephritis), kidney stones or uncommonly tumours. Typical symptoms of infections are a burning sensation when passing urine and a have to empty the bladder more frequently. In addition, pain travelling in the back and around towards the front might suggest a kidney infection or kidney stone. The pain sensation associated with kidney stones might be particularly severe. The existence of blood within the urine enhances the probabilities of infection, kidney or bladder stones or perhaps a bladder or kidney tumour. Both benign and malignant tumours can first make themselves seen in this way. The existence of blood within the urine always requires further investigation and should be reported to your doctor. The amount of the pain sensation will further assist you to as well as your doctor to create the correct diagnosis. Type of pain arising from conditions of the intestines The bowel can provide rise to some wide variety of symptoms including pain. Constipation and diarrhoea could be painful in themselves, and the change in bowel habit usually identifies the pain as coming from the bowel. Pain in the bowel is often referred to as colicky in nature. Which means that the pain sensation or discomfort comes in waves with little if any discomfort in between the pain. Bloating or swelling from the lower abdomen might be present in many intestinal (bowel) conditions including ibs. The passing of fresh blood or altered blood (black motions) in the back passage should be reported for your doctor as investigation is usually necessary. Kind of pain arising from conditions from the reproductive organs Pain might originate from the uterus (womb), Fallopian tubes or ovaries. It is usually felt in the center of the low abdomen, over the type of pubic hair as far as the navel. Occasionally, the pain is much more to one side, that is more typical of a pain coming from an ovary. There can be discomfort as well as pain while having sex (called dyspareunia) felt deep inside the pelvis. Pain originating from the uterus is usually worse during the time of a ladies period (dysmenorrhoea). Examples of conditions of the reproductive organs giving rise to pain include endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian cysts, fibroids and problems associated with the early stages of being pregnant for example miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. In any case of sudden, severe, unexplained abdominal pain your physician ought to be contacted. What is going to a doctor do? Acute and sudden pains are always worrying but chronic pain can also have serious implications and a doctor should be consulted. The doctor will ask about periods, passing of urine and bowel motions. They may also ask if there has been episodes of nausea, vomiting, or fever. If appropriate, they may inquire concerning the person emotional life - family, friends, work - as well as their love life. The doctor will want to examine you. This can involve feeling your abdomen and, in addition, an internal examination (vaginal, rectal or sometimes both) may be necessary. Further investigations or treatment will be based upon the description of the pain and also the findings of the doctor examination. Typically, a urine sample will be requested and tested for just about any signs of infection. If a kidney issue is suspected than an ultrasound scan from the kidneys and bladder will be arranged. If your trouble with the womb or ovaries is suspected, swabs in the vagina searching for any infection might be performed as well as an ultrasound scan from the womb and ovaries is commonly performed. If your bowel issue is suspected, a sample of the motion is often investigated for signs and symptoms of infection and you'll be recommended to have a telescopic examination of the bowel called an endoscopy.
