Dear Nandita Macfolate is just an Vitamins and it can help you if you have dediciency of this. It is useful to increase your hemoglobin and specialii in Megaloblastic anaemia caused by vit B12 deficiency. The dose is 500 mcg/day 3 times/wk for about 2 mth. Maintenance: 500 mcg 1-3 monthly. There is no any significant side effect of this medicine. Decreased GI tract absorption with neomycin, aminosalicylic acid, H2-blockers and colchicine. Reduced serum concentrations with oral contraceptives. Reduced effects in anaemia with parenteral chloramphenicol is seen with this medicice. With regards J. S. Chowhan |

Hi, just want to know i had 2 c-sections. 2nd c-section was done in the 5th month due pprom. Now since its a year & im trying for a 3rd chance doctor has advised macfolate for a month before conception. how useful will this be. Any preventive measures to be followed in this pregnancy. pls advise. Dear Cathy Macfolate is capsule and contain L-methyl folate 1 mg, methylcobalamin 1.5 mg, pyridoxal 5-phosphate 0.5 mg. These vitamins are useful for any pregnant woman. 1. Folate tablets during pregnancy always help preventing the neural tube defects. These are serious birth defects of the spinal-cord and the brain. The defects of neural tube occur at a very early stage of development. These occur even when women are not aware about their pregnancy. About 3000 pregnancies may take a hit each year because of neural tube defects. 2. It's been reported by the Centers for Disease control and prevention that ladies who are taking the folate tablets during pregnancy at least one prior to the conception as well as throughout the first trimester of pregnancy have a reduced risk of the baby struggling with neural tube defects. 3. It is strongly recommended by some that folic acid helps in decreasing the baby’s risk of many other defects like the cleft palate, cleft lip and certain other kinds of heart defects. 4. Folate is required by the body for making normal red blood cells as well as for preventing anemia. 5. Folate tablets are very essential for the functioning, repair and manufacture of DNA. A fundamental foundation of cells and also the genetic map is also regulated. Thus, enough folic acid can also be extremely important for the rapid cell development of the placenta as well as the developing baby. 6. It is strongly recommended by some investigation that if multivitamins are taken along with folic acid, the risk of preeclampsia is reduced. This may be a complex disorder due to which the mother’s and the baby’s health could be affected. For lowering the baby’s chance of developing neural tube defect, it is recommended through the experts that 400 mcg of folate should be taken by a expectant mother every day. This must begin at least a month before a woman attempts to conceive. In fact, half the pregnancies in the United states are unplanned. It is strongly recommended through the experts that ladies of all ages must have 400 mcg of folate every single day. Some groups suggest that the intake of folate should be boosted to 600 mcg daily. The label from the folic acid tablets during pregnancy should be checked to make sure that enough supplements are now being obtained. A woman may even switch between brands. |

Hi I am 26 years old and taking Macfolate since October,2014 and it is my continuous forth month that i have been taking that medicine. My doctor advised me to get my Follicular study and HSG done. Hsg is fine however Follicular study says that the ovulation is very slow and advised me to take Glyciphage.. Please advise i really want to be pregnent at this point of time. Please me in getting pregnent. Thanks alot for your help in advance. Dear Ritu You have not mentioned when you got married. If you are continuously staying with your husband atleast for a year and not getting pregnant then you need to consult an IVF specialist. She will examine you and your husband and may advice for some tests. Thanks With Regards Dr J S Chowhan |
