Dear Colleague Please can you advise: 1) How many lap appendectomy procedures is recommended before competence is achieved? 2) The likely cause of caecal ischaemia and peritonitis post appendectomy? 3) The causes of incomplete appendectomy? Dear Susan Roberts Minimum 20 Appendectomy need to get confidence in this procedure. The cause of incomlete appendectomy is due to leaving a big stump at the base of appendix. Ischemia and peritonitis could be due to thermal damage of cecum due to electrosurgery. With regards Sadhana |
