Need to get surgery done for my family member (60 yrs age)having 1 gall stone of 12mm size.Please advise if we get this treatment done by December ( 2 months )from now , will the size /complexity increase or is it advised to get it treated immediately. |

Hey as I know there are some risk also on this surgery like: There are some risks when you have general anaesthesia. There is chance of infection or bleeding in the wounds. The abdominal organs, glands, intestines, or blood vessels may be damaged. A blood clot may enter the bloodstream, and clog an artery in the lung. A hernia can develop at the site of the wounds. |

I AM HAVEING CRONIC PANCERTICE & WITH A PAIN IN ADBOMEN AFTER U/S IT IS BEEN FOUND 12MM STONE IN GALLBLADDER. PLEASE ADVICE ME WHAT DO,GO SURGERY OR LAPORSOCIPY Dear Deepak Gallstones and alcohol are the two most common causes of Pancreatitis, accounting for 80% of cases. Gallstone pancreatitis results from transient obstruction of the ampulla of Vater by small stones or edema. Clinical features include preceding biliary colic, the presence of cholelithiasis or biliary dilation on gallbladder ultrasound, and liver function test abnormalities. Gallstone pancreatitis typically does not recur after cholecystectomy or endoscopic therapy (biliary sphincterotomy and stone extraction). Alcohol is the second leading cause of AP, which typically occurs after episodes of binge drinking. After recurrent episodes, most alcoholics go on to develop chronic pancreatitis. So in our opinion careful assessment is required in your case. Please have opinion of a good surgeon and get the laparoscopic cholecystectomy done. With regards M.K. Gupta |

I am 39 years old,having three to four small calculi,largest measuring 9.6mm in the lumen of gall bladder. ,is it necessary for an emergency surgery....i undergo an ortho surgery 3 years back and using calcium tablets. has it been reported any connection with calcium intake and gall bladder stone formation..? |

Dear Mahiuddin, If your gallstone is not symptomatic then it doesn't need to be operated. But if it is symptomatic then it can be treated by operation only. 12 mm Gallstone found during ultrasound and after 02-03 Months i feel pain in abdomen which reduce after pain killer, i dont want to operate plz suggest me further.
