Hi Can I ask you what is dermoid cyst and how to treat it. |

Dear Samantha Silki You have not mentioned which type of dermoid cyst you want to ask. A dermoid cysts are a saclike growth that is present at birth. It contains structures for example hair, fluid, teeth, or skin glands that can be available on or in the skin. Dermoid cysts are caused when skin and skin structures become trapped during fetal development. Their cell walls are nearly just like the ones from the outer skin and could contain multiple skin structures for example follicles of hair, sweat glands, and often hair, teeth, or nerves. Typically, removing a dermoid cyst is not an emergency procedure. If a dermoid cyst ruptures, becomes inflamed, or causes pain or fever, an individual should seek immediate medical health advice. With respect to the harshness of pain or discomfort, you may also consider visiting a hospital is emergency department. Dermoid cysts grow slowly and are not tender unless ruptured. They often occur on the face, inside the skull, around the back, as well as in the ovaries. Superficial dermoid cysts around the face usually can be taken off without complications. Elimination of other, rarer dermoid cysts requires special techniques and training. These rarer dermoid cysts occur in 4 major areas: Dermoid cysts in the brain: Dermoid cysts occur very rarely here. A neurosurgeon might need to remove them if they create problems. Dermoid cysts within the nasal sinuses: Forms of very rare. Only a handful of cases involving dermoid cysts located here are reported every year. Removal of these cysts is very complicated. Ovarian dermoid cysts: These growths can be cultivated inside a woman during her reproductive years. They can cause torsion, infection, rupture, and cancer. These dermoid cysts can be taken off with either conventional surgical procedures or laparoscopy. Dermoid cysts from the spinal-cord: A sinus tract, which is a narrow connection from the deep pit within the skin, usually connects these unusual cysts to the surface of the skin. This kind of dermoid cyst can become infected. Removal is usually incomplete, however the result is usually excellent. Prior to removal of superficial dermoid cysts on the face, an individual should know the main difference between cysts and other facial growths. Because dermoid cysts stem from birth and grow slowly, a person usually notices them during childhood or early adulthood. Dermoid cysts are firm and painless unless ruptured. Dermoid cysts are not attached to the overlying skin. In rare cases, a dermoid cyst extends right into a structure deeper than skin, such as a facial cavity or perhaps an orbit. I have seen in ultrasound that Illmarginated heterogeneous echogenic + cystic mass at the left adnexal region-? DERMOID CYST (56 x 40 mm) some doctors said for operation but some said that only medicine removes this disease. I am confused please suggest us what I should do now. I am very thankful to you for your valuable advice. Thanking you Reply: Dermoid cyst will never go with medicine. Please get laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy done. |

I am having dermoid cyst on forhead for last 15 years. Initially the size was very. Now it has grown to 5 cm +.Last night the cyst was ruptured while combing causing discharge of plenty of white jelly like substance. Now it looks like skiny sack. Reply:- advised to get it removed by surgery |
