I had an incisional hernia mesh done after my initial gastric bypass surgery. I now have a problem with the gastric pouch opening into the bowels being too large. My doctor says an option is Band over Bypass surgery. Can this surgery be performed laparoscopically ? or will the mesh be a problem? The doctor is concerned about the mesh - he stated that the surgery could be done laparoscopically even after open bypass but he did not know what complications the mesh would have. The mesh was fairly large covering the gastric bypass surgery line that was done openly. Thank you in advance for your help and advise, |

Dear Corner Laparoscopic Surgery is possible for applying over bypass but sometime it can not be guaranteed as their may be a lot of adhesion which may create problem. But there is no harm in starting with Laparoscopy and if the surgery is not proceeding it can be converted into open. With regards M.K. Gupta |
