Dear Doctor, My wife has a 5 cm myoma and doctor in Saudi is saying for hysteroscopy. Please let me know how many days I have to stay and what will be the cost of surgery. Is there any side effect. Will my wife get pregnant after surgery. Many thanks for your kind help. Yours Rizwan |

Dear Rizwan It appears that your wife is having submucous myoma in the uterus and the treatment is hysteroscpic myomectomy. Usually only one day hospitalisation is required. If the size of the myoma is bigger than five cms or part of it is intramural then it is removed in two sittings. The cost of surgery for myoma upto five cms will be around four thousand US$ (US$ 4,000/). There are no serious side effects if surgery is done by experienced surgeon.The pregnancy outcome after the surgery is very good.
