I have a patient has been recently diagnosed with the aforementioned tumor. It has been recently diagnosed with current treatment being steroids and pain killers. She initially had a walking impairment and was unable to eat without throwing up which is symptomatic of the tumor. What I would like are recommended treatment options, the approximate costs and if any support you can lend to get her a visa to India. Please confirm receipt of this email as soon as you get it - this is an urgent request. I have attached a brief radiology report summary. |

Dear Peter Tumours of the spinal cord can be either primary or metastatic. The vast majority of spinal cord tumours are metastatic deposits from other primary sites. Tumours of the spinal cord can be divided into three groups, based on the anatomical location of the tumour mass. Firstly, they are divided by their relationship to the spinal meninges, with tumours being classified as intradural or extradural. Furthermore, intradural tumours can be subdivided into those arising within the substance of the spinal cord itself – intramedullary tumours – or those arising in the subarachnoid space (extramedullary). Surgical resection is the mainstay of treatment in tumours of the spinal cord and the degree to which a tumour can be resected has great bearing on prognosis. Please bring the patient for evaluation to our hospital then only we can tell if surgery will be possible at our hospital or not. With regard Dr. Nidhi |
