Swelling and pain in the legs can be caused by various factors, including: Injury: Sprains, strains, or fractures can lead to swelling and pain. Infection: Conditions like cellulitis can cause localized swelling and pain. Fluid Retention: This can be due to heart, kidney, or liver problems, leading to edema. Venous Insufficiency: Poor blood flow in the veins can cause swelling, particularly in the legs. Blood Clots: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can cause swelling and pain in one leg. Lymphedema: Swelling due to a buildup of lymph fluid, often after surgery or radiation therapy. Arthritis: Conditions like osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis can lead to swelling and pain in the joints of the legs. |
