i am 27 years old with pendunculated subserosal fibroids the biggest one is about the size of a 20 week pregnancy.i wish to have more children in the future and would like to know the best surgical procedure to correct this problem.thank you. |

Dear Mudia Iyoha Laparoscopic Surgery is method of choice for pedunculated fibroid and it is performed by using harmonic scalpel at our hospital. We use morcellator to remove this myoma. Overall package of surgery at World Laparoscopy Hospital would be only 1,500 USD for this surgery. You should first come to get yourself examined and next day surgery is possible. Laparoscopic Myomectomy uses a small telescope placed with the belly button along with several small instruments to remove fibroids from the uterus. The manner of actually removing the fibroid in the uterus is comparable to that of an abdominal myomectomy except we use small instruments placed through the abdominal wall. Once the fibroid is free of the uterus it needs to be taken off the abdomen. In order to remove a sizable fibroid from a small incision we use an instrument known as a morcellator, to cut it into pieces small enough to be removed with the small incisions. The greater superficial a fibroid is the easier it's to remove laparoscopically. Pedunculated fibroids are the easiest. Care must be taken to not damage the underlying myometrium (the wall from the uterus) with energy accustomed to seal the arteries, as rupture during pregnancy continues to be reported if this happened. Deep fibroids that protrude into the cavity from the uterus (submucous myomas) would be the most difficult to get laparoscopically. The benefit of laparoscopic surgery is that a larger incision is replaced by a number of smaller incisions. Recovery is usually faster than if a regular incision is made, but this could vary. It might not be possible to obtain of the same quality of the repair for large or deep fibroids. This could be more essential for ladies desiring fertility. The question you need to ask is not if your laparoscopic myomectomy can be done but if it is best for your individual situation. With regards Dr Chauhan |
