Dear Amitava Bandyopadhyay In cholecystectomised patient, it is reported that they stated bowel frequency increased, on average by one movement a week, and fewer subjects felt that they became constipated. However, statical data and records showed no consistent change in bowel frequency, stool form, or defecatory symptoms. Your surgery was performed only yen days before so you might be taking small quantity of food or fibre free diat but most of the patient reported diarrhoea after the operation but it is usually mild. Change in dietary fibre intake may up to some extent associate with change in bowel function but stopping constipating drugs did help in in a minority of patient. So in our opinion at present you should keep patience and get your bowel fully regulated because it is just couple of week and slowly your bowel movement will regulate. For the time being you can take some mild laxative after taking advice from your operative surgeon. With regards M.K. Gupta |
