Dear Boyce If you have decided to get your fibroid removed laparoscopic surgery is a very good option. The advantage of this really is that patients will go home the same or following day and be back to operate in 1-2 weeks. However it is essential that the surgery be as complete as by laparotomy or any advantage sheds. Our center has pioneered the technique of VERTICAL DEEP LAYERED REPAIR of the muscle by laparoscopic suturing. This results in a strong repair allowing normal VAGINAL delivery despite removing larger intramural fibroids. The use of an electric morcellator to remove the fibroid tissue in long strips has made the surgery speedier to ensure that 18 week size fibroids may be treatable by 50 percent hours.
