Hi! I have a large 10 cm Intramural myoma and I dont have any child. I want to go for safest surgery possible today for this myoma so that the function of my uterus should not be compromised. Money is not a problem as I can afford it. I have heard that you people are doing da Vinci robotic surgery. I just want to know what are the advantages of robotic surgery and what are the complication. With regards Silpi |

Dear Mrs Khanna Every year, roughly 65,000 myomectomies are performed within the U.S.1 The conventional approach to myomectomy is open surgery, via a large abdominal incision.2 After cutting around and removing each uterine fibroid, the surgeon must carefully repair the uterine wall to minimize potential uterine bleeding, infection and scarring. Proper repair can also be critical to lowering the risk of uterine rupture during future pregnancies. While myomectomy can also be performed laparoscopically, this approach can be tough for the surgeon, and may compromise results compared to open surgery. Laparoscopic myomectomies often take longer than open abdominal myomectomies, and up to 28% are converted during surgery to an open abdominal incision. Myomectomy can be a uterine-preserving option to open abdominal hysterectomy. A brand new category of non-invasive myomectomy, da Vinci robotic surgery Myomectomy, combines the best of open and laparoscopic surgery. Using the assistance of the da Vinci Surgical System - the most recent evolution in robotics technology - surgeons may remove uterine fibroids through small incisions with unmatched precision and control. One of the potential benefits of da Vinci Myomectomy when compared with traditional open abdominal surgery are: Opportunity for future pregnancy Significantly less pain Less blood loss Fewer complications Less scarring A shorter hospital stay A faster return to normal daily activities da Vinci Myomectomy is conducted using the da Vinci Surgical System, which allows your surgeon to perform a minimally invasive, yet remarkably precise, comprehensive reconstruction of the uterine wall, whatever the size or location of the fibroids. The unique degree of control and precision supplied by da Vinci may also help your surgeon give the most precise and thorough reconstruction possible, helping to prevent possible uterine rupture tearing) during future pregnancies. As with any surgery, these benefits can not be guaranteed, as surgery is both patient- and procedure-specific. While myomectomy performed using the da Vinci Surgical Product is considered effective and safe, this procedure may not be appropriate for every person. Always ask your doctor about all treatment options, in addition to their risks and benefits. With regards Sadhana |
