On 15th june tapp of b/l inguinal henia repair. left mesh slightly displaced. still small bulge in the left side. will it correct itself? age - 50M. |

Dear Mr Sanjeev If the bulge is due to displacement of mesh it will not be cured its own but if this bulge is due to seroma formation it will get corrected after few week. Seroma is a frequent complication of laparoscopic or open repair of hernias using expanded polytetrafluoroethylene mesh. Aspiration of this seroma has the risk of introducing bacteria, resulting in infection and the recurrence of the hernia. So our advice is that you should wait for sometime for correct diagnosis to be apparent. With regards J S Chowhan |
