I have excruciating pain on my sides. The ultrasounds show small stones in my kidney and gall bladder. I have been on medications for the past 6 months but there is no improvement in my pain. I wish you could a answer some of my questions and figure out if Laparoscopy is an option to remove those stones.

Dear Aarti Gupta

We can perform laparoscopic surgery for gallbladder stone and ESWL for kidney stone. As you have written your kidney stone is small so it can be easily treated by ESWL. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is a non-invasive treatment of kidney stones. Extracorporeal lithotripsy works best with stones between 4 mm and 2 cm in diameter that are still located in the kidney. ESWL can be used to break up stones located in ureters as well, but with a lower rate of success.
