Dear Miss Ranjana Retroperitoneoscopic nephrectomy for renal disease has several advantages over open nephrectomy, namely a smaller wound, less blood loss and more rapid recovery. It may provide a safe and reliable method for treating refractory renal disease clinically as well as nephrectomy. But as far as comparison between Transperitoneal laparoscopic versus retroperitoneoscopic radical nephrectomy is concerned in many prospective randomized study comparing LRN and RRN did not find any real difference between the two approaches in relation to patient morbidity or the technical difficulty for the surgeon. Just like laparoscopic nephrectomy, retroperitoneoscopy is also a reliable, effective and, in experientced hands, the preferred technique of laparoscopic radical nephrectomy. At our institution retroperitoneoscopy has emerged as an attractive alternative to laparoscopic radical nephrectomy in patient who need this procedure. With regard M.K.Gupta |
