My father-in-law was operated end of last year, where he was diagnosed with appendix burst after couple of days. His surgery was performed in Balaji Action Hospital, New Delhi. After several weeks of recovery, his stiches are completly healed. After couple of weeks, he felt uneasy & his stiches need to be reopened; where lot of pus came out. Then the cut on his stomache was not stiched & was cleaned for several weeks in hospital alongwith some medicines. His wound again got healed up & again pus formation happened & the cut need to be opened again. Concerned Doctors have not given us any diagnosis why this happened. We have changed the Doctor for second advice & better treatment. And, we again face the same issue; where even after careful cleaning & healing of his cut; pus formation again happened. Last week, the Doctor has remarked the the pus formation is probably due to some negligence in the first operation. So, he is trying to heal this last time; if it didn't work then he has to go through operation again so that they can figure out the root cause. Right now, my father-in-law is complaining pain below the area where the cut is open. This may be due to cleaning process; but I'm confused. My father-in-law is a healthy person. He has reduced a lot of weight in this period & right now he is loosing all his energy & hope. He is regularly complaining body-ache, & stiffness. Right now I'm looking for a serious advice. |

Dear Vinay Kumar Recurrent abscess formation and fistulization after surgery means there is some complication of first surgery. In this case you should get one CT scan done and then your father may need one more surgery to find out cause of recurrent abscess formation. You have not mentioned that first surgery was performed by which technique. It was done by open surgery or laparoscopic surgery. Sometime there is chances of any foreign body left inside the abdomen also if previous surgery is done by open technique. Actually we need to see and examine the patient before drawing any conclusion. Wishing you all the best. |
