Dear Vinita

Ovarian drilling is a surgical procedure of ovary, done during laparoscopic surgery. It is a usually minimal access procedure in which a laser fibre or electrosurgical needle or harmonic probe punctures the ovary 4 to 10 times. This ovarian drilling treatment results in a dramatic lowering of male hormones testosterone within few weeks and is often performed in women who have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Many studies done all over world have shown that up to 80 percent of patients suffering from PCOS will benefit from such treatment.

In PCOS many women who fail to ovulate with clomiphene citrate or Metformin therapy will respond to ovarian drilling when these medications are reintroduced to the system after ovarian drilling.

Usual side effects of ovarian drilling are rare, but may result in adhesion formation or if excessive drilling done there is ovarian failure if there are complications during the laparoscopic drilling procedure.

Ovary pain during proied after tubal ligation, anyone?I had my tubes tied about 4 months ago. I also have PCOS. This is the 3rd time I've had my proied since then, and besides my normal livable cramps, I got this TERRIBLE stabbing pain in my ovaries. I was so bad, it had me doubled over on the couch, and I had to take a Vicodin to make it go away. As of right now, it's still hurts when I move. Livable, but still annoying.Yes, I read about post-tubal ligation syndrome before deciding to have my surgery, but decided it was worth the risk. My mom had her tubes tied, and told me she had this problem too for about a year, but it finally went away.My concern is the cause. I'm afraid I might have developed some bad cysts since I have PCOS, but it could also just be pains from my still healing surgery. I didn't have this problem with my last 2 proieds! Anyone who has had there tubes tied, did this happen to you, and did it eventually stop? I don't like the idea of having to take Vicodin every time my proied shows up. Thanks!I only took the one Vicodin this one proied. The previous 2 were fine. I had a few left over from my breast reduction a year and a half ago. I'm not an addict! I was trying to say, I don't want to have to continue to medicate myself beyond a tylenol every time I get my proied!
