Hello, I'm 14 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with dermoid cyst measuring 6 cms in size. I had IUD in 1st pregnancy in full term last November. My query is what is the risk to the baby if i go for laproscopy ? If no, what is the risk of torsion and twist of ovary to the baby?? Should i wait till full term and get it removed then? I'm very confused. |

Dear Neha Dermoid cysts of the ovary are benign tumors that contain nails, teeth, bone, hair, cartilage, and/or other tissues, and can be filled with a fatty substance. Dermoid cysts vary in size and location, generally appearing on an ovary, as in your situation. In 25 percent of cases, cysts are found on both ovaries. Dermoid cysts of the ovary are fairly common and most often affect young women around the age of 30. For Dermoid cyst Surgical removal is usually recommended and laparoscopic surgery is the preferred method, if the cyst is small this can be done during second trimester of pregnancy. This laparoscopic procedure involves inserting in the abdomen and filling the abdomen with CO2, which allows room to maneuver. Please either comes to us or see any good gynecologist and if you want it can be removed in this second trimester of the the pregnancy. Although if it is asymptomatic we can wait till the delivery. As you have history of IUD and fear about torsion we can safely remove it in this trimester. With regard Sadhaha |
