I just had scanning done for gall bladder and gallstone has been detected. The doctor just suggested immediately that I need to undergo surgery. He did not mention whether this can be cured with some medicine or not even how critical it is. Could you please provide me more detail on the same. Let me know what information do you need |

Dear Nitin Kumar Bajaj In reality there is no any medical treatment for the gallstone. Some gallstones can be rarely dissolved through the use of a bile salt, although the procedure can be used only with stones formed from cholesterol and not from bile pigments. The drug containing ursodiol is taken as a tablet; depending on its size, the gallstone may take months or even years to go away, and often people need to take this medication indefinitely. Medications you take by mouth may help dissolve gallstones. But it may take months or years of treatment to dissolve your gallstones in this way. Medications for gallstones are not commonly used and are reserved for people who can not undergo surgery. With regard J S Chowhan |
