Hello this is Ayush from Jabalpur. I had an endoscopy at Selavarangam Hospital Chennai and the findings were, Reflux Oesophagitis, Small Hiatus Hernia and Lax Oesophageal Junction. I have severe stomach pain after eating and i have reduced more than 25 kgs of body weight due to painful eating. I am barely able to eat not more than 1000 Kcal a day due to stomach pain. Do i have to go through Nissen Fundoplication? Do small hiatal hernia require surgery?

Thanks

Dear Ayush

Symptomatic small hiatus hernia need fundoplication surgery if it is refractory to medical management. Please keep in mind that we need to see all your reports together with we need to do oesophageal manometry and dual probe 24 hour ambulatory pH monitering if it is required.

So please visit our facility for further evaluation and to take the opinion of our experts.

With regards

J S Chowhan
