There are several surgical procedures available for treating piles (hemorrhoids), depending on the severity and type of piles. Some common surgical options include: Hemorrhoidectomy: This is the most common surgical procedure for severe or recurring hemorrhoids. It involves surgically removing the hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoidopexy (Stapling): This procedure is used for prolapsed hemorrhoids. It involves stapling the hemorrhoids back into place in the rectum. Hemorrhoidal artery ligation (HAL): This procedure involves using a Doppler ultrasound probe to locate the arteries supplying blood to the hemorrhoids and then tying them off to reduce blood flow to the hemorrhoids, causing them to shrink. Transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization (THD): This is a minimally invasive procedure that involves using a special device to locate and ligate the arteries supplying blood to the hemorrhoids. Rubber band ligation: This procedure involves placing a rubber band around the base of the hemorrhoid to cut off its blood supply, causing it to shrink and fall off. |
