Hello Doctor,

Is laproscopic partial fundoflication surgery a major surgery? Also, can it be performed by robot? Nexium hasn't helped me, is it the time for surgery?

Dear Sid

The indication for fundoplication is to establish that the esophagus is exposed and in contact with gastric juices for longer duration by doing 24 hrs pH monitoring and to do manometric studies to evaluate the tone of gastroesophageal sphincter and motility of esophgus body.So before surgery these tests are mandatory.
Partial fundoplication is a major surgery and it can be done by Robotics.

Thanks

With Regards
