Dear Dhiraj
In PCOD normally the patient has multiple peripherally arranged cysts in both the ovaries. Single cyst of 40 mm size will be ovarian cyst. Please confirm with MRI Pelvis scan of your wife. The treatment of PCOD is ovarian drilling and ovarian cystectomy for the ovarian cyst.

Thanks

With Regards

40 mm cyst may be the functional cyst. Ultrasound should clearly suggest about Polycystic disease. You should get one ultrasound repeated also. Most of the PCOD can be managed by medical treatment.
