Dear Doc My age is 34 year and my hight is 5 ft 4 inch and my weight is 98 Kg. I want to get sleeve gastrectomy done at World Laparoscopy Hospital. Can you advice me that for me sleeve gastrectomy will be better or gastric bypass. I also want to know what will be cost of sleeve gastrectomy surgery done by laparoscopic or da Vinci Robotic Surgery technique? What will be the extra advantage I will get if I am going for da Vinci Robotic Sleeve Gastrectomy over Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy. Thanks for your time! Kanchan |

Dear Kanchan Madhawan First thing I want to know is whether you have tried to reduce weight by exercise and diet control or not. Although your BMI is around 32 and candidate for weight reduction surgery but still if you can reduce weight by non operative means it's better. However in your case Sleeve Gastrectomy is better alternative. The cost of Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy will be around Rupees 3.5 lakhs and 4.5 lakhs for Robotic surgery. In Robotic surgery the precision is much more than Laparoscopy and in Super Obese patients with weight more than 200 kgs Robotic is procedure of choice both for Sleeve and Gastric Bypass.
