Hello Doctor, We have been trying for baby from last 3 years after our marriage but recently found that my wife has intramural fibroid seen in posterior wall abbuting the endometrium without any submuscus extension Pelvic Scan findings are;- Uterus is reteroverted, measures 8.5x5.6x5.2 cm. The myometrial echoes are homogenous except for a 28x27 mm intramural fibroid seen in posterior wall abutting the endometrium without any sub mucous extension. No necrosis/calcification seen. Colour doppler shows mild marginal and central hyperemia with high impedence flow. The endometrium is central, proliferative, thickness 7.4mm. No polyp/ submucsol fibroid seen. The ovaries are normal in size. No adnexal mass. No free fluid is seen in PCOD. Both the tubes are blocked so would like to go through IVF treatment. Please suggest treatment. Can it be removed through laproscopically or abdominal myomectomy is the only option. Plz reply. |

Dear Ritu The cause of infertility of your wife is the blocked tubes and not the fibroid uterus. However you have not mentioned the test which diagnosed the tubal blockage. If it is HSG then this report is wrong in fifty percent cases. Your wife needs to undergo Diagnostic laparoscopy with Tubal Patency test. No treatment is required for the fibroid at present.
