Will I still be able to vomit after fundoplication surgery if I get the flu or food poisoning? |

Dear Carla It is not true that after fundoplication there will be absolute no vomiting. If your body wants to get it out, it will, if it's something like a bad stomach bug. Some people claim they keep anti nausea medicine handy, but I haven't ever had the need to have it. Nowadays we do floppy fundoplication and in this you can get vomiting if it is needed. Dear Ronil, A strangulated hernia occurs when the blood supply to the herniated tissue has been cut off. This strangulated tissue can release toxins and infection into the bloodstream, which could lead to sepsis or death. |
