I was having high bp since last few weeks. I underwent all test and almost all were normal. Then doctors at paras hospital suggested for urine test where nephrines and meta nephrines were elevated. Then I underwent a CT scan which says its an extra edrinal pheocromocytoma in aorota calva region which is causing high bp and redness in eyes. I am in great trouble and need your help on this. According to max doctors its treatable and its curative but I want to take your opinion as I have heard a lot about your hospital. Please guide me can it be corrected at your hospital? I am attaching the scanned CT report. |

Dear Abhijit Extra-adrenal pheochromocytomas may arise in any portion of the paraganglion system, although they most commonly occur below the diaphragm. The most common site of occurrence of extra-adrenal pheochromocytoma is the superior para-aortic region between the diaphragm and lower renal poles. Complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice for primary extra-adrenal pheochromocytoma as well as recurrent or metastatic disease. However, It has to be operated mostly by open surgery by the surgeon experienced in this. Extra-adrenal malignant pheochromocytomas are difficult to operate on because of a tight adhesion to the circumference of tumors. However, an successful operation is the experienced most curable treatment. Sometimes a replacement of the inferior vena cava with grafts is necessary for removing tumors completely. When residual tumor cannot be resected, medical therapy for symptomatic relief is preferred, since radiotherapy and chemotherapy have limited effectiveness. With regard Dr Mishra |
