Pyeloplasty

My son's age is 4 years.Recently he went a laparoscopic pyeloplasty (on 19.05.16) for removing puj obstruction in his left kidney. After the operation he had 103 degree fever ,vomiting and acute abdominal pain which lasted for seven days.Then doctors performed PCN in his left kidney, but situation did not improve very much. After that doctors gave him an antibiotic called named colistimethate sodium Injection IP 10,00,000 IU on the basis of urine culture report. After that he improved a lot. Now he has no fever or vomiting and acute pain. Now doctors tell us full recovery will take some time as they have to remove urethral catheter and PCN (Kidney) catheter one by one? Now I want to be sure that my son's treatment is on right track, (i,e stenting was correctly placed and it is working properly, no damage has been made to my son's kidney etc). In fact I want a second opinion. My son is now discharged from the hospital. We see him doctor at OPD now. If I send you the discharge summary then could you help me to know the second opinion ? |

After Pyeloplasty sometime these type of transient UTI happens. Your son is now OK. Te surgeon has given correct treatment. One to two months after the surgery, your child will be scheduled for an ultrasound of the kidneys. This test tells us if there is any blockage at the site of the surgery. Some surgeons may recommend repeating a renal scan to assess kidney function. Your child should then visit us for a follow-up six to eight months later for another ultrasound and office visit. Children who have undergone successful pyeloplasty surgery may still get urinary tract infections. If you suspect your child has an infection, you should notify your child's pediatrician, |
