Dear doctor, i'm 29yrs old, had Ectopic pregnancy in dec 2015 and surgery was carried out. I went for a pelvic scan today been the 29th of June 2016 and below is the result : Bladder: uniformly filled, normal outline. No stones,No mass. UTERUS : anteverted non-gravid uterus measuring 38mm in the widest AP dimension. Normal endometrial lining measuring 2.5mm in thickness. There is a a sub-serous myoma seen measuring 15x17mm in the anterior wall. OVARIES: there is a cyst seen in the right ovary measuring 80x82mm with thin wall, containing some internal debris. The left ovary is normal. Adnexae/POD: there is moderate fluid collection noted in the posterior cul-de-sac, suggestive of pelvic inflammatory disease. Right Ovarian cyst. Pelvic inflammatory disease. Sub-serous myoma. Doctor, pls kindly explain to me, I really don't understand the scan result. Am I @ risk of anything? I have only one tube left as one was removed during the surgery last year.

Dear Samira

You need Ovarian cystectomy for right sided ovarian cyst. Cysts are fluid-filled sacs that can form in the ovaries. They are very common. They are particularly common during the childbearing years. There are several different types of ovarian cysts. The most common is a functional cyst. Tumors can form in the ovaries, just as they form in other parts of the body. If tumors are non-cancerous, they are said to be benign. If they are cancerous, they are called malignant.

You need further investigation to know the type of cyst you have. Please come to WLH so that we can help you.
