I am a 34 yer old Indian woman living in Denmark. I was recently endoscoped and diagnosed with a small hiatal hernia after I started getting sever heartburn after hectic sudden workout. No ulcer was found. This started about a month back. It started slowly with a few random episodes of heartburn during the day, gradually progressing to persistent heartburn, that I could feel during the night, upon waking up, while walking and post eating. Upon endoscopy only chronic inflammation of the esophagus was noticed. I was put on 20 mg Pantaparazole twice a day. I saw a decrease in heartburn but it was not completely eliminated. Next, I was put on 40 mg twice a day. Again less severe heartburn but not eliminated..I feel the hot acid coming up the moment I lie down or sometime during the day also while sitting and also after eating. I am unable to sleep. If I am very exhausted, I sleep for 1 hour and then get up with burning and hot feeling in the chest. It has come to a stage where I am getting only 2 - 3 hours of sleep nightly. It has started impacting my life a lot as I am very low on energy, stressed and unable to function normally. I ma therefore now looking at surgical procedures to relieve my symptoms. I request you to let me know how we can go about setting up an appointment and the procedure itself. I will be highly thankful to you if you can give my life back to me. |

Dear Asmita Rai You are welcome to World Laparoscopy Hospital anytime but before coming to us you should get a few more investigations. I request you to get one repeat endoscopy and contact the CT abdomen. We should must know LA classification of GERD and also the size of any hiatus hernia. Please also get one USG whole abdomen and basic CBC, LFT, KFT done. Once you will send report of this investigation I will advise you further planning to come. Dr. R. K. Mishra |
