Dear Sir

My mother needs thyroidectomy. A lobectomy is required which is an operation that removes the lobe containing cancer. Please let me know if she can have a normal life after surgery and what post-operative care should be taken.

Dear Suman Ojha
The open techniques of thyroidectomy pioneered by Kocher have given way to minimally invasive and varied endoscopic and robotic techniques with improved cosmesis, decreased pain, and comparable or decreased morbidity and mortality. Robotic thyroidectomy is certainly an innovative procedure with potential benefits and advantages compared to open thyroidectomy
